The Power of Networking

Wow – lots of marketing talent at our Tuesday Job Transition SIG meeting.
Scott Spira told us about the success he’s had with a networking system developed by a local Chief Marketing Officer when in transition. We’re working to get permission to share. Scott used it to link up with the CMO at Alliance Data.
We also did a demo on the Scioto Ridge Job Networking Group website and talked about how to use the membership directory for networking contacts. Membership fees are going to increase August 1 … interested parties are encouraged to join before this time.
We discussed Twitter and identified several groups to follow.

You’ll find lots of discussion around salary range on a web application and how to handle it so that you’re not screened out. Consensus was to do the research and go in low on the online application. Save the negotiation for the offer.
Sue Barclay identified a fun site to locate great happy hour alternatives.
Michelle Stepnoski told us about a website looking for freelance writers.
I also learned that there are jobs posted on Craig’s List.
We’d love to have more employed AMA members join us. Their perspective would be great!
Many thanks to Keri Samiec and Falgren for the beautiful facility.
To those in transition: remember the power of positive thinking. “I cannot always control what goes on outside. But I can always control what goes on inside.” – Wayne Dyer
